Caribbean Vacations
Every stay saves the shore.

About Caribbean Vacations

Caribbean Vacations is a booking agency of Los Amigos, a Honduran company founded by the same people who run the cleanup on this coast. Los Amigos is the seller of every stay on this site: when you book here, you book with Los Amigos, and the desk that answers you is ours.

Why we exist

The Motagua River carries an estimated 20 million kilograms of plastic into the Caribbean Sea every year — among the worst single river sources on Earth. That plastic lands on the beaches of the Garifuna communities of La Ensenada and Triunfo de la Cruz, where more than 15,000 people live from the sea. Caribbean Cleanup — an initiative of the nonprofit Hands for Honduras, Inc. — works that coast: paid local crews, interception at the source, and beach cleanups where every bag is weighed and published.

Cleanup crews need guests. Guests need beds. And the small resorts and family homes of this coast sit empty most of the year, while the big platforms send their guests everywhere else. This agency closes that circle: every stay saves the shore — your lodging money lands with the owners and families of the coast the cleanup serves, and the travelers who come for the mission sleep in the community they're helping.

The line between the agency and the cleanup, stated cleanly

Los Amigos is a business, and Caribbean Vacations is its booking agency. Caribbean Cleanup is a nonprofit initiative of Hands for Honduras, Inc. The two are connected by people and by purpose — and they are separate organizations. The cleanup never sells you a room, and the agency never asks you for a donation. When the agency profits, it can support the mission the way any business can — openly, and on the record.

Where we work

La Ensenada · Triunfo de la Cruz · Tela — the north coast of Honduras, in the department of Atlántida. Gathering Week, the cleanup's flagship week, runs February 15–22, 2027, with the main cleanup day on Saturday, February 20. Most of our guests come for that week. The shore is worth the trip the other fifty-one weeks too.
